    Throttle / Shifter Removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the throttle/Shifter from my 2005 22V? (picture attached) I removed the allen head set screw on the bottom and the screw on the button end but it won't come off, even when I pull pretty hard. I don't want to pry or pull to hard in fear of breaking it.

    Thank you

Take the upholstered panel off.....? That may reveal your answer.

Thanks for the suggestion but I did remove the upholstery screws and the panel is still held on because the throttle shaft goes through it and the fiberglass panel behind it. The reason I'm removing the throttle assembly is to re-upholster the vinyl panel.

I did this years ago on a buddies boat to replace a faulty taps switch.. Best I can remember all I had to do was remove the 2 screws like you've done and pry it off.. Maybe try a shot of wd40 in the set screw hole and wiggle it. Maybe pry a little on one side to get even pull on it. I really don't remember it being that complicated.. Be careful though because the wires for the taps switch run through the handle and they aren't really long

Thanks Bryan, you gave me some extra confidence to pull and pry a little harder. I'll give it a shot this evening but try not to go overboard.........literally.

From memory on my 06 20I the panel lifts off over the whole throttle assembly are you sure this is holding it on?

However to get the shifter apart it is as you say the grub screw from below and the screw on the button.

It's onto a spline but you may find its been forced as the fit is poor. Give it a wiggle towards forward and reverse too.

You guys were both right, I just needed to wiggle and pull it a little harder. I was a little gun shy and didn't want to break anything. I'm glad I checked and thanks again for your help.

              Cheers!
