    Removing the Windshield Glass

    Has anyone done this for tinting purposes? I had the tint done on my 15 RZ4 back in August. But it is bubbling a little and needs to be redone. When the shop did it the first time, they couldn't get all the way to the edges. I'm heard of guys removing the glass to get it all he way to the edges. Has anyone attempted this on a newer boat?

    I've got a rz4 an want to tint the windows yet this winter. I'm thinking of doing it on the out side.

      There are guys out there that can tint them with glass in and no issues but they are hard to find. There is a guy a LOTO that can do them and takes him around 3 hours approx $400. I've had some want to remove my glass also and am against this, as the exterior rubber seals below window will never seat back down. I saw several boats at a stereo/tint shop last year that had the glass removed and trust me you won't be happy with the outcome. Do some searching for a dealer that has the knowledge to install while in boat.

          I guess we all have different opinions on this... our glass was removed for the tint, and the exterior rubber seals below the window were seeded right back into place. Ours was a little pricey though (and we shopped around!), because of the 3 piece configuration. Those 2 side pieces are not easy to tint even with the glass removed. Here's a picture;

              Looks good! The boats I looked at were a couple of malibus and a 12 model or so tige, and that bottom rubber seal was pealing up. Perhaps just the shop that did them wasn't gentle with them, but was enough to scare me!!

                I just had mine done as well. The shop wanted to take the windshield out, but I told them not to. Due to that, the price went from $350 to $500...I paid the $500...

                    15% for me - I had the same tint on our previous boat... I wanted it dark enough to look good, but light enough to see through at dawn and dusk. I really like the look of 5% (I think Wickedcummins on here may have his that dark), but went with something I thought was just a little more practical for our needs.

                            Thanks and I agree 15% is plenty dark. It has to help keep the dash electronics cooler even at that amount of tint. Hope to get mine done at Loto this year.
