21v shaft seal

I have a '01 21v and I believe my shaft seal is leaking. After a half an hour or on the water my bilge has a fair amount of water in it. What is the average life on a shaft seal anyway? Did the 2001 's come with a PSS seal or did someone else make it?

I have a 99 2200V and had the shaft seal replaced in 2004 with the PSS and I now have a dry bottom boat. I have had no trouble with the PSS system since its install. I would recommend one.

Thanks for the info. Just got off the phone with Dan from PFF(they make pss seals) He told me to make sure the collar didn't back away from the inside of the seal. If it is the seal would leak even when sitting idle in the water. Nice guy though, couldn't believe he called me back, from an email no less!
