    Trailer brakes

Although this is my third boat, it's my first trailer w/ brakes. Here's my ?: does anybody know if the trailers ( Dorsey) are shipped to the Dealers filled with fluid and ready for the road, or are they 'dry' and get filled and bled at the Dealer during PDI. Being my first, I thought the brakes felt ok since my SUV was having no problem Stoping.

To make a short story long, during a pre-trip check over, I found that the master cylinder was bone dry!!!! Dealer said it must have a leak, but it has felt the same since day-one. And yes I know I should have checked it before I took delivery. Filled it up, bled the brakes and drove it 300 miles this weekend. Check it over today and fluid is full, lines and wheels are dry.

Damn it's nice to have a little help in slowing down a 5400lb load!

    Sorry for the length, thanks.

all the ones i have checked in come with fluid in them. it should have been checked during PDI. im glad you got your brakes working it does make a big difference. i would check often for the first little bit then it should make it between normal service schedule on your boat. i.e you service your boat every 50hrs (after breakin service) go over your trailer to. check fluid, hit the buddie bearings with some grease, check the torque on the lugs (you would be suprised how many i find gettin a little loose). lube the wench, jack and ball reciever. i always check air in tires and lights everytime it hits the road. a neglected trialer can ruin the best kept boat!! dont forget that my pappy tought me that one LOL

You are so right. knock on wood, i've only been broke done once, due to a wheelbearing/hub and I was 10 minutes from the house.
