What prop is on it and whats the RPM? The "slip" you feel may be the rev limiter, rightly so, depending on the prop and RPM.

Stock prop. Not sure on the RPM as the boat is now out of the water. This happened while no ballast was in the boat. Boat has now been put in the garage for the winter. Any ideas on swim platform designs to maximize wake size would be greatly appreciated

Stock prop would have been the ACME 537. No way in heck that prop could top out @ 30 with little to no ballast with its 16" pitch. Has this boat had aa complete service/tune up? If not, its time. I would also make sure that the throttle plate is opening to 100%. Not much can be done until the peak RPM is known, in order to tell if its the hitting max RPM or falling way short.

The speedometer could be off a bit as well, I would verify the speed with a hand held GPS to see what the actual speed is. Also, what is the TAPS setting, is the slip the result of the bow jumping up and down (porpoising)? Does the boat accelerate up to and just hold that speed? Does it accelerate past 30, then slip and drop down to 30 mph? What were the weather conditions? Choppy? Windy? Glass? Did it happen one time or is this a recurring problem? Has the boat been slowing down and "slipping" over the years or has it just happened this season? Have you hit anything with the boat? Have you looked at the prop to make sure there isn't anything on it line fishing line or something else like that?
