    Fuel Pump Relay

    So about a month ago I read some threads about the relay for the fuel pump. We seem to have the same issue;

    There is a noise that sounds like the bilge that runs continously whether the engine is running or not. The only way to stop it is to turn the battery off. We took it to the dealer about 3 weeks ago for our 100 hour and he corrected the problem saying it was the relay that was stuck on. It just started again this weekend.

    Where is the relay located and is this an easy thing to get to and fix? Why is this getting stuck? We are not in any major chop or rough water. Going to Powell in 4 weeks and would like to know how to correct the problem. I have a 2002 21V riders edition. 350 merc.

    On my 1998 Mercuiser it is next to the distributer. There are two relays
    one is for fuel pump. They are about 1 inche square.

        I had to change the one on my pickup once. It just unplugs and a new one plugs in. Can't get easier than that.

          Well as far as I know...... The relay does not need replaced but just fixed. Have any insight as to what this entails?

            You have to replace the relay it is not serviceable. Check to make sure power is shutting off to the relay to make sure this is the problem. But it doesn't hurt to have a spare since there are two. (On my boat anyways.)

              just take it out, go to autozone, pay the 11 dollars for one, and there you go. I keep two on mine, since I have had the problem before. takes about 30 sec to replace, and your off again.

                Yeah,
                It was no big deal. That is exactly what I did. I bought two and keep one handy. Thanks for the help all.
