    ConvexVX

I own a 2012 Z3 and after seeing some of the new innovations for wake surfing wished I had waited until 2013 or 2014. I inquired through the Tige dealership I bought my boat through on ordering the Convex VX for wake surfing and was told that Tige no longer offers them. The excuse was that Tige wants people to buy their latest boats. I'm not going to sell my boat just to get the newest boat. So I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who is selling or knows how to get a hold on the convex VX. Just so there is no confusion the convex VX is the wake shaping hull extension that attaches to the bottom of the swim step. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

What your dealer told you was correct. When the convex VX came out the factory was willing to let owners of previous boat years do a retrofit and sell them the device itself. When the AVX came out they discontinue this process because of exactly what your dealer said. Tige is interested in selling its new boats every year. The only way you're going to get your hands on a VX is if you can find an owner who is willing to sell you one but that essentially kills their resale if they choose to sell their boat. My opinion is you have an uphill battle on this one.

Great in theory, but not so easy. Along with the fiberglass part, there is the cost of manufacturing the brackets as the VX uses a different platform bracket system. Then there is the fact that the actual market for this particular product is quite small (only certain Tige hulls of specific model years). I doubt this would be a profitable venture (or break even) for anyone. This would probably only work is Tige sold the mold and CNC program/specs for the brackets. Then the up front R&D would be minimized.

Have you surfed a new wakesurf system boat? I don't like it, the wave just isn't as good. Most people are fine with it, but I could care less (I have surfed all major new surf systems, with and without lots of extra ballast). Plus you burn a ton of gas.

You didn't like the original VX duff? The one I rode really lengthened the pocket. Didn't see any major changes in wave shape. Really helped goofy side too. Wish I would have pulled the trigger when I could have.

Nope, I have 2 buddies that removed them. One is thinking about it. It fights their ballast, both had to get new brackets from the factory, because the angle was too extreme and it fought the ballast too much. Wave flap does a similar job of cleaning the wave, without pushing the nose down.

I have the current brackets on my rz2 with a custom vx and plate setup and I love the wave it's super clean both sides and a ton of push way back but then again It was all winter projects with cutting and re- fiberglassn but the outcome was totolly worth it.

Don't get me wrong, the surf systems are neat, I don't consider the vx a system. Just a device to clean the wave up. True surf systems, will drive the market for a while until something better comes out.
