That does make sense, regardless, I'm just happy we got it off!! 9 years provides a really tight seat!

yeah, gliding into the dock or the ramp or something, but that would not explain how/why the speedo pickup was busted.

Well, it sounds like they did not get lined up on the trailer when they came in. You might want to check your fin alignment as well.

You had that prop on there for 9 years?

Holy cow that has to be some kind of record!

Apparently so, I didn't realize props were so vulnerable. I'm just amazed they can fix that!! Do they heat it and press it back in a die?

I'm telling you, I just brushed something gliding onto my trailer...I had it lined up perfectly and everything. They fix it with a hammer and then smooth it out on a grinder for simple things like yours. I'm not sure what they do when they are really mangled.

I think they take blank blades and weld them on, then shape them.

Did the Marina keep your boat on a lift? Seems like all this damage could have been caused by an ill fitting lift.

When they are really mangled, they sell you a new one

When I first had my first boat, I went to back off from the dock and hit a pile of rocks that (obviously) had no idea was there.

When I brought the prop into the shop, the guy just chuckled at me as he was getting his catalogue out. Needless to say, I've been much more careful. The old one is on the wall in my garage as a reminder.

No, they kept it outside on it's trailer. I have a lift, but I hadn't made it to it yet when I noticed the initial vibration. It had to have been a trailer instance. We only put it on the trailer once a year, and that normally takes some patience. Maybe that's because we don't do it that often, or because that's the nature of the beast. But I'm doubting they took the same time and care that we do.

Bummer, dude! If your strut is bent, then your shaft probably is, too. I think you can straighten the fin with a rubber mallet. I'd call a Tige dealer to see if they have the part you need or can get it for you.

You'll need these aligned fairly precisely and I'm not sure what types of tools you'll need, but it may be more than you're willing to do.

I'd have a qualified mechanic look at this.

                            Strut replacement advice

There is a big divit in the strut where it hit the rock. The shaft looks ok.
The fine guys at Tige Watersports in Ca gave me the low down on replacing the strut. Sounds like 2 guys, one in the boat, one under, and a #3 phillips on a ratchet. Take out 6 bolts, take off the prop, slide off the strut, reverse....
They recomended removing one o fthe muffler pipes, and warned me that 2 of the 6 nuts would be very hard to see.
I read the thread about the silicon holding the thing on and needing to swack it with a rubber mallet.

So.. any other advice out there ??

make sure u clean the bottom surface real well and dont forget the 5200 sealant. its a 3m product. i am sure you have seen it, just dont forget to use it. your other advice seems right on the money.i would also agree that if your strut is bent as you describe that the shaft is also damaged. you really should have it checked. good luck.
