Can you replace just the fuel pump in the G-force fuel pump canister system?

Hi tigeowners- I've seen lots of fuel pump postings, but haven't seen this question asked yet.

Short version: has anyone replaced just the hp fuel pump in their G-force system? why replace the entire top of the canister assembly when the pump pulls out easily from the top. where did you find the cartridge pump?

    Long version:
Been reading the forums for past couple of years but my first post. We've got 2007 24ve w/350hrs that has been hunting to keep speed lately...usually at surfing speeds. Can happen with or without speedset on. This past weekend i changed the fuel filter and I'm getting 52psi at the rail before starting the engine. Haven't had a chance to get it out on the water to check it under load yet, but my question is can you replace the pump by itself...instead of purchasing the entire top portion of the canister/assembly? While I had the g-force pump and canister removed and was doing a deep cleaning I removed the 3 screws from the top of the pump and removed it from the canister. It was fairly easy as there were only 2 o-rings sealing the sides of the pump to the walls. It all went back together easily and is not leaking. Seems like the engineers that designed it were making it very easy to replace just the pump, however I can't find anywhere that sells it without it pre-installed in the canister top.

    Thanks-

Don't know about that specific engine, but I did exactly what you're describing on a Mercury V6 a while back. Mercury themselves has stopped selling the HPFP but the same pump is available aftermarket from multiple sources for multiple land and water vehicles. We bought one, dropped it in, problem solved.

Most companies don't re-invent stuff they can buy off the shelf. No guarantee, but chances are that fuel pump is available somewhere.
