2007 rz2 troubles starting it after winter

I am a happy owner of an RZ2 2007 which I purchased new in 2008. I store in boat in cold storage after the dealer winterizes it. It seems I always have problems getting it started in spring. Last spring I didn't quite have the throttle in neutral. This year I feel certain I have it in neutral, but when the batteries are hitched up (They are fully charged and changing the starting battery and using my charger to help start the engine makes no difference), when I turn the ignition there is a clicking sound coming from the engine, but the starter really never gets going. Any ideas? I would appreciate the help.

Too me it sounds like batteries, how about jumping it from your vehicle?

Did you put the boat in gear and then return it to neutral just to make sure you got a solid clunk? I would start by verifying the battery voltage at the battery, at the starter and at the back of the ignition switch. Next would be to fallow the "crank" voltage all the way from the key switch, through the neutral safety switch, starter relay maybe and then the starter solenoid.

tried using charger in Starter mode. I have 2 starting batteries. Both show at least 12v. I changed battery connections to the engine, but same result.

I tried moving the throttle out of neutral and back a couple times. Same result. My boat is at my cottage and I am not. I will have to try checking with voltmeter as you suggest. Thanks, I will let you know what happens.

Take the batteries to a shop, and ask them to load test them

If you left the batteries connected over winter, undo the terminals and clean inside the terminals and the battery posts with a wire brush. (They sell brushes for this purpose that make the job easy.)

I had this happen one year in my '07 RZ2. Turns out that I missed putting a cable on the battery. I don't remember which cable or why it mattered but after I found it, I zip-tied all of the cables together for each terminal so I would never miss one again. Hopefully it's something that easy on your boat too. Good Luck!
