What do you use to prop your engine bay doors up?

The pistons dont have enough staying power to keep them up by themselves, so I have been using sticks, but they get in the way.
I had a guy do some work on the boat last year, and noticed he had some small clamps, but didnt get a good look at them.

Just curious what people use when they are working in the engine bay to keep the doors up and not dropping on your head?

If the supports are totally shot, then use a small pair of vise grips on one. But, I would just replace the supports.

New supports, cross match numbers on the ones you have. Go to Ebay, then spend 5 minutes installing new ones.

I like the vice grip idea but agree replacement is the best way to go. Try to find direct replacements which in my 05 is SPD Hardware (www.spdhardware.com). If you feel those are too much (mine are about ~$60 /ea) then try www.liftsupportsdepot.com and get the equivalent for about $16-20 each. They won't be stainless and won't last long but are cheap.
