This happend to me also and I went to the dealer and the wires that connected everything in the throttle were cut and torn. They had to replace my throttle and all of the wires in the throttle to get the taps to work again...

I had the same problem on my '01 20i. Mine was also a wiring issue in the handle of the throttle. They had to reconnect the wires to the switch. I was told it was fairly common problem.

well i after i got back from boarding today i looked at it again and noticed that the nut with the hose coming out of it was screwed on cockeyed, so is the pump hydrolic fluid and if so i figure it drained out and if thats the case how do i refill it?
          its a 2003 21i
oh yeah the motor in the taps runs when you push the button on the throttle.

Just tighten the nut and add some ATF to the fill line.

If you hear the TAPS motor running the plate should be moving up and down. On a '03 21i it is a single electric unit, you might want to unscrew the top of the unit where the wire comes out and put it back on correctly. There is not any fluid inside of the '03 models. Is the plate moving and not the gauge?

                  Bank,

I had to replace a TAPs motor on a 21i, you are correct the '03 should have an electric TAPs while the boat is out of the water move the TAPs and have a friend watch the place to see if it moves, my TAPs plate would only move a few millimeters. i fitted a new motor under warrenty and it worked perfectly. The new TAPs motor had a longer travel distance which works great, the only problem that I had was the TAPs gauge wasn't calibrated for the extra travel. You can read a bit more about it on the "TAPs to TAPs2" thread, its not actually TAPs2 because the plate has changed as well as the motor on that system.

So if some of you had a problem with the 03 Taps system do you know if Tige fixed the problem for o4?

Tigé is using a completely different setup for '04- its a non-hydraulic drive- screw drive, if I remember correctly. They completely redid the drive unit and increased the size of the TAPS plate, plus it moves faster.

2003 and 2004 have the same brand arm for the TAPS.
