I agree, the dealer should be familier with these systems. the tech at my dealer says that they have not been supplied with wire diagrams for the accuset and that they do not have the updated software for the MP scan-tool. 90% of fixing, is knowing how the system works!!!!!!!!!

The recall is for the MP engine w/ accuset. there is a pink wire that is grounded that should not be connected, so i'm told.

motorman, you are correct in how the system works, it is the same principal as what we have seen on cars/trucks for about 5 years.

bneub, you may have something else going on strange with PP, I hope your dealer can fix it.

      NO RECALL

There is no recall. The pink wire is grounded on the accuset which is appropriate. If PP is used the pink wire must be cut.

I hope for my dealers sake there is a recall. If this is another long line of b******t that i'm being fed by the servicemanager, he is going to have a real bad day, after i trailer my NEW boat back to the dealer for the 5th time since april (2 hour round trip), this friday.

Any idea what that pink wire does and where it is at? I will mention that to my dealer and see what they think.

I would think that pp and accu-set could both have the same problem since they both take over throttle control at the ecm.

I called my dealer's area Rep. Randy Omalya, he listened to my boat/dealer problems. (in addition to this thread, the dealer has has my broken board racks fo 5 weeks). Within 20 mins, I recieved a call back from Harvey Smith with Tige, he is going to have my dealer ship my racks to him for repair, and believes there is a problem in the harness between the throttle lever and the accuset head in the dash. Harvey will tell the dealer what the need to order.

bneub, there is a recall for a PP problem. the pink wire may be connected on yours? and should be cut!

                Lee & Chpthrl,

I will double check with my dealer, but when they were installing my perfect pass, they were also doing another '06 the same day. I am sure they cut that wire, because they spent a lot of time in the phone with Tige making sure which wire was to be cut. At first they were told "the blue wire" and there are 3 blue wires.

There is also a pin that gets added to the ECM connectors (I think) for pp.

There is definately a purple wire that has been cut on the port side ECM connector.

I did some more testing this weekend and with perfect pass off, things work great.

When perfect pass is engaged, if I adjust the TAPS a few times, I get the beep and the motor slows to idle. It doesn't happen every time I adjust the TASPS, but seems random. Maybe every 5 to 10 times.

It sounds like there is some kind of interference or a wierd electircal signal happening between TAPS, cruise control, and the engine.

These are the worst kind of problem since it doesn't happen to every boat or every time.

                    Any ideas?
Sounds like you may have a short somewhere between the TAPS and the cruise control. I'd have the dealer check that.

Finaly talked the Dealer into giving my an ACCUSET head to try. I don't know if It will fix the 'limp home' mode idle problem or not, but we know that the cruise is inop. The boat has acted up with the ACCUSET unplugged so we are still in a fact finding mode. Will be out all weekend long, so we will see!

My Dealer says they do not have any wire schematic/diagnostic info on the ACCUSET, or the software update, for the 06 MP engines w/ 'throttle by wire', for the scan-tool. If I could get my eyes on these wire diagrams, I could probably find the link between the TAPS and the 'throttle by wire', and figure out why it acts up when you hit the taps button (some times).

                        chpthril,

Perfect pass sent my dealer a new control unit and we installed it at our owners reunion 2 weeks ago. We also ran a separate ground wire from the battery to PP and a took the power for PP directly from the key in an effort to remove any stray signals from other stuff.

That seemed to solve the problem for a day. I tried and tried to get the boat to get the boat to act up by adjusting the TAPS the rest of the day and it worked fine. Then the next morning we were surfing, I hit the TAPS and son-of-a-B@#$%! it went to idle.

My dealer is now stumped and I suggested that we wait until this fall to work on it. They are busy and it is a 2.5 hr trip one way for me. With my new boat, I don't want to sacrifice lake time during the season. I can live with it, but it does suck.

I don't think that Perfect Pass or Accuset is directly to blame. Especially since your boat acts up with the Accuset unplugged. I was talking with one of the guys from our Powell trip and he reminded me that my boat failed once when we were just cruising down lake with PP turned off. I was adjusting the TAPS to bring the bow up a little for some rough water.

I wonder if TAPS is sending a stray signal that is making the motor think that there is a fault? We both have 06 boats. Mine was delivered last November, when was yours manufactured?

                          Bneub,

I think mine was built in September? I'm with you, just wait till i'm done this fall, and take it to them and leave it till it is ALL fixed!

I'll post back on Monday whether my ACCUSET works now or not, or if the engine acts up anymore.

                          Later.

Have they tried to run a new ground wire from the battery or the block to the ground bar that is under the dash board?

My ground bar is under my right rear seat, but I could try that also. Maybe the main wire to the ground bar is damaged somewhere. What guage should it be?
