What is this knob on my 2001 2300V?

I recently bought this boat and the previous owner didn't know what this knob did either...

I've looked underneath the dash and it has wires routed to it, so it's not a dummy knob. The back of the knob looks like a volume knob like what you would find on a guitar (potentiometer). I've tried spinning it when the stereo is on, it doesn't control my subwoofer or tower speakers. I've tried spinning it when the lights are on, it doesn't dim the tower lights or the courtesy lights.

    Any help is appreciated!

should be the speedometer calibration knob or at least my 01 20i had 2 knobs like that for the speedometers. You should be able to use a gps unit and turn the knob either direction to calibrate the speedometer.

Very interesting! Thanks for the idea. I have recently added a StarGazer PP to it, but I mostly ride on a river with about a 2MPH current. I'll be sure to try this out on my next outing!

Don't believe the Faria gauges have that option, at least mine do not. Have never seen that knob on any other. I would just trace the wires and see where they go as I don't think it is stock.

I don't remember seeing that knob before. It looks like volume boost knob for an amp.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I had faria gauges in my '06 supra 20ssv and it had a knob similar to that under the dash. it adjusted the speedo.

im going with sub level as it looks out of place for the speedo, especially since theres only a single speedo. Look behind the helm to see if there's RCA cables or a flat phone looking cable to it?

I had a 2001 23v limited and that is the speedo calibration knob.

To confirm what some have said. It is indeed the speedo calibration knob. While underway this weekend I spun the knob left and right and watched my speedo adjust up and down by about +/-5 MPH. I'm not sure I ever would have put that together in my mind to try this while moving!

                    Thanks for the great advice!

I went through the same dilemma with my 01 but was lucky enough to mess with all switches first few time out when I first owned it. Otherwise I don't think I would've figured it out either. I used to use a GPS app on my phone to calibrate them. The 20i had 2 knobs and my kids or friends that didn't know what the hell they were doing would constantly turn them and the speedos were always off.
