    where to put switches

i have a new 24v coming and wondering where everyone has put all of their extra (non factory) switches. i will be using all of the switches that come stock but also have 4 more switches that i need to put in for the ballast system. i want to use the same switches as the factory but want it to be very clean. i am adding pp but replacing the speedo, heater (dial will go by the throttle lever), i think the factory will put the remote in the lower silver plate which may make it tough to put 4 switches there. also running front and rear lights but will use the dash 3 way for those. then i am also adding a pair of kc's facing forward that i will most likely use the "acc" switch on the dash for. i will also be adding a plug for my ipod and want to mount that so it looks professional. any ideas? if the remote is on the upper dash i should be fine using the silver plate, but not sure??
my boat is complete at the factory and due to ship next week, so i can;t make any changes now. btw- sorry for the long post, jst figured more info would help reduce questions. thx !!

blr, I'm debating the same thing myself, but I have a 21V. One thing that I would recommend, is that if you are running any additional accessories off of the factory switch board, upgrade the wiring. Put the fattest guage wires to it that you can, or you will see some major voltage drops from everything else that is wired into the dash. Or you can just run the pumps and lights directly into your battery bank.

hanzj - thanks for the suggestion! I was planning on running to some relays and then to the batt, but i will keep that in mind for sure. i will be using the factory switches for my lights, but intended to put in relays there too, but may go ahead and upgrade the wireing jst to CMA.

I would like to do something similar with my 21v, but don't know where to get the switches that match. Any ideas?

My switches are not labeled on the switch themself, but infront of the switch on the panel (this makes it impossible to read). I would like to replace these switches with the ones that are labeled on the switch, as well as add a couple of new switches for the additions (heater, etc.). The question is where to get the switches?

I'm not sure what the differences are between the 22v and 24V dash, but I debated the same issues and came up with what you see. The tower lights and shower use the factory switches and the 5 switches on the plate are for the ballast- 1 for the main valve and 4 for the 8 pumps. Up position is the fill pump for each bag and down position is the drain pump for each bag.

My dash is the same, except the switch panel is different and my radio is where your perfect pass and ballast switches are. What are the switches you have labeled? Maybe I can get the whole set-up from tige.

I don't remember exactly each of the switches but, they include- blower, bilge, int. lights, nav. lights, tower lights, shower, and ?? They are just all of the standard factory switches.

Looks great paublo! the dash on my 24 is the same as well was my 22ir. the issue i have is that both my perf pass & stereo remote are on the metal panel next to the steering wheel and i need to add the same 5 switches you added. at least the same function, i may use switches that match the factory switches. I just need to figure out where to mount them. I have looked at mounting on the same panel that the throttle is on but don't want to be able to hit it with my leg or the drivers chair if i turn the chair. hmmmmm.......

Do you have the space between the gages and circuit breakers in the upper right side of the dash? Maybe you could relocate the remote or the PP to that space and mount your ballast switches on a plate that is then mounted where the remote was, to the right of the steering wheel.
                    Good luck!

                      Paublo,
I believe the one other switch would be the heater...

Since I have the radio next to the steering wheel I was thinking of using the extra switches for ballast. Is that possible. I do not have docking lights or a shower so I have switches that will not be used. Problem is.... I would still need more switches.

                        blr:

The other day, I was watching a program with my 14 yr old daughter called "Pimp my Ride". It was raining and we didn't have anything better to do , but the just of it, is that in there I saw these guys outfit a pickup truck with all kinds of stuff. What they used, rather than putting switches in the bed of the truck was a remote control that operates the stuff. 1 button would lift the cover, the other button would turn on lights, the other button would do the TV - you get the idea. It looked like something you could easily buy at a Car Stereo or outfitting store.

I'm also having a problem figuring out where to put additional switches. I ran across this 4 switch set while searching the internet one day. I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for how well it works.

While not the same manufacturer, it appears to work the same as the factory switches on my 2001 23V.

smendez - that would be pretty cool. a remote ballast system! knowing me, I would lose the remote oraccidently sit on it and have the boat leaning to one corner and not know why

RZMike - that gel pad looks very cool, but i need 3 way swicthes - (fill, empty, and off) I am also going to need 5 switches as the gate valve needs one.

I may end up just using simple 3 way togsles mounted to a plate under the dash. So if you don't know they are there, you won't even see them.

still not sure. I'm still waiting on some parts so I won't "need" the switches for a few weeks yet. Keep the thoughts coming though, this is great stuff!

I have a 5 bag system. The switches were ordered directly from Tige so they matched the other switches and look stock. It is a perfect place for them!
