    depth finder issue

Wondering if anyone would be able to help me here...we are having a bit of difficulty with our depth finder system. The setup is a 2004 Switch V, and the DF is a "HawkEyeDF1000D". The issue we have is that most often, the depth finder just displays 3 black bars across the display, as if the finder was not able to recieve any information on depth. Occasionally, we will get a reading, but it is usually way off. The transponder on the back looked to be in ok condition, but I am not sure. Anyone else have a fix for this issue?

The transducer must be parallel to the bottom of the boat so that the transmitted signal gets reflected properly back to the receiver.

If the depth finder works OK when you are sitting still and not when moving then the angle is still not correct.

      Faria Depth Sounder

Thanks for your help. I am also having some trouble with my depth sounder. Any chance you could share a photo of the position you are speaking about needing to be correct? Also, to reset the unit I was told to set the shallow and deep alarm settings to zero. Do you know if the unit will still work, but now won't beep with an alarm? Thanks!

promo: after a month of troubleshooting, we found that we had a bad "gauge-unit". The angle of mounting isnt that sensitive...it should work if you get it close, but your readings might be off if it isnt exact.
