Need help fixing arm plate on rear hatch

    Hi

I'm hoping someone can give me a tip on how to replace something on my 2001 Tige. One of the plates that holds the arm on the center rear hatch (engine underneath) has become detached from the hatch. The holes through the fiberglass and wood underneath the fiberglass have become too burrowed out for screws (I've tried larger ones but those don't work any longer).

The best idea I have is to fabricate a larger plate and: A) Screw in different locations B) Use a glue/epoxy that will help hold the steel to the fiberglass.

I"m going to try to get out to the boat today and take a picture, but if someone understands this and has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pull the skin partially off, drill out the holes and hammer in T-nuts from the back side. Then use threaded SS machine screws in stead of wood screws.
