    board racks

Has anyone had any problems with your swival board racks? New 06 22ve, 4th trip out and one broke off and hit the water while underway with 2 boards in it. The part that holds the boards is bolted to the the hinged part( that is bolted to the tower) with only 2 bolts. These bolts are too short, only 4 threads deep in the hinge part. I will post pics as soon as I can. One bolt pulled the threads out of the hinge and the other bolt just broke. I checked out the other rack and it was on it's way to doing the same thing.

One more little thing, anybody out there found any thing to clean the rubber parts of the racks to to prevent the black stuff from getting on your hands. It's like a 'Cat in the Hat' nightmare! the black ends up all over everything in a hurry!

We've got an 06 22v with a Samson Razor tower and have had zero problems with our swivel board racks.

Haven’t had any problems with the racks but the Rubber Straps are a serious mess on the boat. The black gets everywhere anytime we grab a board off the rack. Have been working on cleaning them with cleaner. Seemed to work but will see if the black starts to wear off again after a week or two.

Unfortunetely a lot of people are having problems with their new racks, including me. I had one get really loose on me so I removed the boards, on the drive home it actually flew off and landed safely in the boat (lucky for me and the guy behind me). I had the dealership re-attach it but it managed to get loose again. I took it off myself and put a sh*tload of red locktight on the tips and in the threads and re-attached it again. That was about 4 trips ago and it hasn't loosened up a bit. Hopefully it continues to work, otherwise the drill is coming out!

Here are a couple of pics. In one, you can see the broken bolt in one hole, but it's hard to see the threads gone from the other. The next pic shows how little bolt there is to thread into the hinge, about 5 threads (1/4 in. ).

I am out to find longer bolts today.

I hope nobody has gotten hit from a falling rack or a damaged hull!

I called my dealer, he called Tige and then called me back. Tige has longer bolts that the dealers can order. The bolt holes in the racks will have to be drilled and tapped for the new bolts. He is getting me one new rack, and I am going to take the other one with me and have the longer bolts put in both.

MY DEALER HAS HAD MY RACKS FOR 5 WEEKS NOW AND NO BOLT KITS. IN THE MEAN TIME, WE ARE RIDING AROUND WITH OUR BOARS IN THE FLOOR BEATING THE **** OUT OF THE INTERIOR GEL-COAT.

Spoke with Harvey Smith with Tige, he is going to have my racks shipped to him to be welded.

I had the same problem with the straps. I called wake designs and they are sending me new ones. Should get them any day. I lost the finger pull part off of my racks so keep an eye on them. Luckily it did not hit the boat!

One week shy of 3 months with out my board racks. Don't know why we spent 60K on a new boat to have the boadrs banging around on the floor just like in my (10k trade-in) old boat.

Well, off my 'soap box' now. Got the racks back today, real impressed with the repair done @ Tige by Harvey Smith. I'll take a pic in the morning of the weld when I get them mounted.

Maybe over the Winter I can get all the issues fixed, and next Spring I can pretend I just bought a NEW BOAT.

Are telling us that Tige took 3 months to do a crappy looking weld? That should have taken about 3 minutes to do. I think they owe you big time for a long wait time and a poor job if you ask me.

It sounded to me like the dealer was the bottleneck.

                              Another stripped bolt victim

I went to Home Depot and found bolts that are 1/4" longer. Changed all 4 of them...it seems to be much more secure.
