    Shower Pump Blowing Fuses Help

When I bought my boat, the shower had a blown fuse and I suspected a bad pump.

    My shower has two switches,
    1) On Dash
    2) Near handle

    When I replace the fuse:
    1) The switch on dash works and lights up when turned
    2) When I flip the switch at the pump, it blows the fuse and the dash light goes out.

So I assumed it was the pump. I replaced the pump and the symptoms are the same.

Where do I start troubleshooting this? I have a cheap multimeter.

Sounds like you have a short to ground on the power side. Meaning somewhere after the second switch the power wire if grounding to either the ground wire or something in the boat that is a ground. It sounds like you are good from your power source thru the first switch and up to the second switch. If it pops as soon as you energize the second switch that tells me your problem is from there to the pump. If its a short run I would just replace the power wire from the second switch to the pump. If that doesn't do it then I'd change the switch.

Thanks Boardman74. I will check it out. Its a very short run to the second switch ( maybe 12 inches).

Boardman74, nailed it. The wires were reversed on the back to the switch I think power was always going straight to ground. Just had to identify the terminals and plug in. Thanks for the help. On another note..... I may have a perfectly good used shower pump.
