    Parts and manual for 04

So, the maiden voyage this year did not go well at all. No power under load and a terrible miss - including audible knock at one point. Started fine and idled though. Also revved quickly and all the way to the high RPM band in neutral. I am thinking bad gas, but the overall system likely needs to be totally cleaned and may also need to replace pump(s). Who knows... my plan is to start small and trouble shoot toward the bigger and more expensive stuff.

I also have leaks coming from the raw water pump housing and from the hose aft the transmission screen (from the water pump).

I could really use part numbers / a manual to order the stuff I need, but am not sure what manual to pick up. Here is one I found:

    http://www.amazon.com/Mercruiser-Man...ruiser+manuals

Can someone please let me know if this would be the correct manual?

Even better would be to be able to find parts directly. I'd like to use this site, but am not sure where to find the serial number of the engine. Does anyone know where I can find it?

    Thanks in advance!!

My engine is an '04 mercruiser 5.7 335HP engine.

Try using the online Mercury parts catalog.

Just enter in your engines serial number. I believe the serial number is on the left side of the top engine cover (sorry if it is not the correct spot trying to remember it, my boat is still in storage).

PPT is a great site. Serial number is located on the plastic engine bonnet up top and on the starboard side of the engine block right where it meets the bell housing. There's a metal badge on the vertical portion of the engine block that has a Mercury emblem and below that is the serial, starting with a letter and 6 numbers.
