    factory amp mounting location

ok... I'm going to be installing my own amps, but I've got a question- how deep are the screws for the stock amps? I dont want to go throught the bulkhead.

good question...wondering the same thing here, as i want to upgrade the amp to a 4 ch instead of 2. I guess i could go unscrew one, but i'm lazy, it's wet, and my baby is all tucked away for the week.

here's another thought....should the holes be pre-tapped? (maybe 1/2" deep)

or should the 3/4" screw self tap itself into the sidewall fiberglass?

good point! I would assume that self-tapping screws would be ideal. I'm tossing around the idea of some billet mounting plates too... I'll let you know what I come up with.

The screws will not be screwing into the fiberglass but into the Penske Composites panel, if the amps will be installed in the factory location.

lee is correct, and you don't have to predrill, just get self tapping one.s I have three amps, an equlizer, and three disbrution boxes mounted on miine, looks sweet

odd... I wasnt aware that the penske panel was in the vertical sides of the storage locker. I thought it was under the floorboard. In fact, I seem to remember the top piece of the boat being one big fiberglass tub?

You could just use some stainless steel wood screws.

so then, are we correct to assume that the inner wall that the amps mount to line the inside of the fiberglass top hull with Penske panel?

just trying to get a feel for how that wall is constructed.

Slide your hand down the carpet and you will be able to feel where the board has been glassed in.
