2004 22V MP 5.7 Engine. Weird cooling issues...

I know, have since installed a bunch with electric gauges but those engine mounted mechanical are the best.

Ya I love mechanical gauges for peace of mind. I want to remove the entire pump. Does anyone know how it is removed? Is it just that one bolt?

Bracket removed and the three allen bolts, then the pump falls right off.

I see both impellers I have do not reach the faceplate. There is almost a 1/8 inch gap to the faceplate!

So now Ill have to research part numbers... I found a way to polish the pump housing tho...

Some polish compound and a pad with a hole cut in the middle.

This is the impeller I bought. I guess its the wrong one. I got the part number off of a post on this forum. Johnson Pump 09-812B-1 Impeller

The pump is a Jabsco 50410-1201. It calls for a 2 inch impeller, part number - Jabsco Impeller 18777-0001

Here is the pdf for the pump. Dunno how many other tiges have this pump.

Yep. I bought wrong impellers. They are 1 and 7/8 inch. My pump calls for a two inch. My fault for blindly trusting someone on the internet. Sigh.

What thread did you grab that part number from? if its got incorrect info, we can probably get Matt (the admin) to edit it and make that correction.

thats a big difference on impeller length. No wonder you having so much trouble. Good to know though just not a fun way of having to figure that out.

This is the thread (and its a sticky!!!!) that misled me to get the wrong impeller. I have the engine they are talking about. But my Jabsco does NOT take that impeller they are talking about. Will that impeller fit? Yes. Will it pump water? Sometimes. And only if you get lucky on the prime. Lots of impellers will fit in a pump. Whether they are the correct fit is another question. Basically dont buy an impeller for an engine. Buy an impeller for the pump.

No o ring and you will be sucking air. Any pump will suck air before water. Good catch wakes if it was forgotten during the rebuild.
