    Glove box cover ideas...

The cover of my glove box has just about had it. The previous owner installed a metal bracket to prolong its life, but now the actual cover material is breaking. The last time I was out, I could open and close the glove box, but the hinge never pivoted, the cover just bent up and down and now it's starting to break apart.

Based on the age of the boat, I'm sure Tige won't have a replacement part. So I'm curious as to what some of you might come up with. A lot of you on TO are very creative and have some of the coolest ideas I've seen. I'm also not sure what type of material to use to make something.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here is a pic of my glove box cover.

You're right you can't get them replaced anymore from Tigé. Post up a picture of the hinge area and we can see how bad it is. I was able to repair mine I just can't seem to find the pictures of it. Here are some threads from before. Maybe there is something in there that will help?

I had to take the hinges apart and get them moving again once I epoxyed the lid back together. Been working good ever since. The hinges are the main reason for the lids breaking. They start getting stiff and then it puts more stress on the lid and finally the lid just gives out.

Good suggestion. I'm sure the hinge is only making matters worse. I'll post up some pictures later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for all the links, TeamAllen. Something in there ought to work for me. I figured this might be a fab-something-yourself type of project.

I would just change the design to a flat lid... that is what Tige did... look at the years after yours... if you can find pics... my 2005 20v.. the lid is completely flat... pretty much just metal black and hinges... and a pull... nothing fancy.. and looks great.
