    08 22VE Tight Steering

Steering is really tight. Posts are saying you have to replace the cable after awhile. Is the steering assisted by anything hydraulic or power? Just wondering if I can check fuses or anything before I have to drag it 250 miles to my Tige dealer. thanks

You are joining the club of us that have had to change the steering cable. It is not a bad job to do it yourself if you have some tools. There are threads on here about how to do it. I learned from those and did it in about 2 hours.

Someone should be along to recommend the proper cable for your boat.

No uses. You can check and add grease to the rudder but most likely it is the cable. You can order one and do it yourself for about $150. Make sure you get the new cable and not one of the older ones. The older ones have a 13 in the part number and the newer have a 15 in the part number. If it is the same cable as the '07 it is SSC15418. Some chose not to go the same route as the factory one and need a 21' cable.

Fresh off of changing one in the 24Ve. Not a bad job. Couple hours and saves a lot of driving and labor $. New one is instantly like BUTTER.

On my 08 Z1 I ran the new cable OVER the fuel tank instead of under as all the water that sits in the valley rusted out the original cable.
Should be good for life now.
