    Austin Tx Fiberglass recommendations

    Can anyone recommend fiberglass repair in/around Austin Tx? Here is what Google knows about

    Custom Boats of Austin ($$$)
    McNeil Marine
    Fiberglass Plus
    Gelcoat Jim
    Ski Dock?

    I've ran aground Sat and have major Fiberglass and prop,rudder,shaft and probably chines to deal with on this one. Thank god I was not on plane.

    I am sorry to hear your boat is damaged.

    I would at least get an estimate from ski dock since they are the local TIGE dealer. I also imagine that cost and how quickly you can get back the water would be major decision factors.

    Would love to hear more about what happened and where if you want to share?

    Also, you should contact your insurance company as it may be covered.

      Here you go.

      Was leaving Riviera Marine cove on Travis and was going about 5-7mph. Watching the location of the bank as the wife was putting things away to head to Mansfield Park. Was outside of one shallow buoy marker kinda in between another marker 4-500 yards away. Within 20 yards of the first marker the boat hit and I put her in idle and the motor stopped on its own. I look out to see that we are in about 2' of water.

      I get out to start pushing it back out into the 20' water. The second time I set my feet I slice my left foot open on what felt like glass. So once we had her back home off to the urgent care we go and get 5 stitches.

      I first took to Gelcoat Jim in Cedar Park because they are the only ones that actually have pictures of their work online.

      It is now at Ski Dock.

      It was an amateur mistake as I was not really paying attention to the markers for some reason. But I am thankful I was not going 40mph. We would have all been hurt badly.

        That sounds like a VERY bad day. It looks like several thousond to get that one fixed. I would contact insurance company. I would also make sure you find a good shop that uses gel-coat repair not just put automotive paint. Again sorry to hear about your bad day!

          2 quotes so far in the $7500 - $8600 range

            also Ski Dock uses King and Associates out of New Braunfels. Other boat forums mention him and seem positive.
