Z3 Issues: Ballast

I have been having issue with my ballast and blower blowing fuses over the past couple weeks I think I am at around 5 at last count. Anyway the first time the ballast fill pump fuse failed it actually took the the Tige Touch power panel with it.

Anyway ... I was poking around in the bilge today and I came across a wire that appears to have been resting on the spinning part of the transmission.


Would someone be so kind as to post a picture of how the wires are routed in their bilge area. Something like this maybe:

It doesn't matter how it's routed, just use a zip tie and make sure no wires or hoses are anywhere near that spinning hunk of metal. If that little bit of wiring was left to get hit by the spinning vdrive, then I would trace the other wires of your pumps to see what they are touching and possibly be blowing fuses. Here is a pic of my pumps at the end of my ballast install, I used zip ties to clean up extra wire length and keep the spinning bits of the engine clear.

The brown and black wires are definitely for the ballast fill pump. I would repair them and then wire-tie them so they are routed away from the coupler.

I would pull the blower and inspect ti for debris. It may have sucked up some trash thats causing it to drag, thus blow the fuse.

Ewok - The reminder of the pumps are all forward of the transmission. All of their wires appear to be in the big bundle of wires at the bottom of picture. I have not seen any other wires around the trans moving parts. Or at least what I think moves... I have never actually watch the transmission while underway.

chpthril- I will inspect the blower when I get home.

Is there a recommendation for the type of wire or can I use any of the same AWG.
As the wire is nearly cut all the way through what would make the best splice. Butt connectors or maybe solder and shrink tubing??? Anything waterproof?

14ga primary wire will be fine if you need to extend them. I would suggest the waterproof heat-shrink butt connectors.
