    Throttle Cable?

2000 22i Tige. The boat will go into gear and basically idle (crawl forward) and will go in reverse. Once you try and move the throttle down to go faster is real loose and you get no response.

Any help would be great. If it is the Throttle Cable any help on how to replace would great also!

    Thanks

Check the throttle connection at the engine and see if you can manually move the throttle on the throttle body with the shifter lever in neutral position. If so, you've got a broken throttle cable, if not than either the pivot point behind the shifter has let go or the pivot point on the engine. Pull the shifter off the canvas (you must remove the four screws holding it in place) and inspect where the cables connect behind the shifter assembly.
If you need to replace the cable, the length is stamped on the cable at either end (Teleflex cable company). Attach the new one to the old one via electrical tape, cut any zip ties around the bundle, remove the cable routing box under the dash (it's where your left knee rests against the walkthrough) and pull the new one through.

So I got in the boat today to work on it. I took the three screws out to look behind the shifter assembly and it would not pull out. It looks like I have to take the paneling off to get behind it. I took a couple of pictures and as you can see the cable has broken off the pivot point. What do I need to do to fix this? Buy an new cable or can I hook the existing cable back with a different part?

Boatwakes or anyone else thank you in advance.

        Hi Mayday,
I have the exact same problem on my 98 pre2200. The piece that connects to the pivot broke, where the cotter pin goes in. Were you able to find this part to replace?

All you need is the brass end. Check tele flex website for it but your threads are 10-32.
