I went to remove the prop, the nut came off easily but I can't get the prop itself to release. Does anyone know if I need a certain tool or have any helpful information for me??

How to Remove a Tight/Stuck Prop

I had a harmonic puller and used a hair dryer to heat up the prop and shaft.
After working on my truck I noticed that a ball joint press would have worked also (I have a 3 blade prop). http://thmotorsports.com/i-396524.as...FQ5ThwodoQjT1w
I rented a tool like this from Autozone or Napa for free.

Had the exact same problem. Yes, you need a prop pulling tool. Even with one, my factory-installed prop would not come off. A call to Acme Props yielded the suggestion that I use the tool between one set of blades, then move it to the next set, then the next.... Sure enough, on the last set of blades I tapped the tool and SPROING - the prop broke free.
Ditto on the castle nut. Put that puppy on there to prevent the prop from dropping off the shaft and getting damaged on the pavement.
