    Velvet drive Fluid Level

I am out, in a couple of days, to hopefully remedy, the "slipping" by changing fluid and properly checking the level.

Is there any danger, other then overflow, if I were to put too much fluid in the gear?

    appreciate opinions,, thanks,, mike

Too much fluid can cause aeration and eventually damage to the trans, plus some ATF in the bilge from overflow. The level should be checked with the trans warmed up, boat in the water, turn off the motor, fully insert the dipstick plug and the fluid level filled to the top of the graduated marks on the stick. It takes a total of about two quarts.

I was having the same problem two years ago and I put some Lucas transmission stop leak to get me through the season. Knock on wood three fluid changes later no leaks.
