    syncrotech transmission?

The sticker on my boat mentions a syncrotech transmission. Does anyone know what this is and how do I tell if I actually have one? -Tip

If your transmission is painted blue, then it's a syncrotech. Or at least that is the way it was done with my 2001...

If the v-drive is blue then it is a syncotech unit. This means it is a gear reduction v-drive. Standard gear ratios are 1:1, syncotech is 1.25:1. This means a better pull out of the hole.

Mine says Velvet Drive on it so I assuming it's not a syncrotech.

        Thanks for the help. -Tip

Isn't the Velvet Drive (V-Drive) just the name of the type of engine? That doesn't automatically mean that it is not a Syncrotech, right?

I thought I remember hearing a dealer say that all V-Drives are syncrotech?

Velvet drive builds the transmission on the back of the motor. The v drive unit is behind the transmission. If the v drive is blue you have syncrotech 1.48-1 if you have a black v drive it is a 1-1. Syncrotech is an option when the boat is ordered.

How much more pull out of the hole does the Syncrotech have compared to the 1:1 v-drive? If you were to drive the same boat with the two different v-drives would you be able to tell which was which? What is the cost of the syncrotech?
              Thanks

I understand now. I'll check the vdrive unit to see if it's blue.

What effect does a syncrotech vdrive have on top end speed (not that I care about top end speed in this boat, just curious)?

                Thanks,

Synchrotech we found did not affect the top end of the boats, we contribute this to the Hull design. You do get a much better hole shot and the top end speed should be around 48 mph.
