    TAPS Lenco Actuator replacement

I have a 2004 20v. I determined the my Lenco TAPS actuator was bad after talking to a very knowledgeable rep. The gage moves and the motor runs but the tab does not move. Has anyone replaced on of these? How are the actuator pins that connect the actuator bracket mounted on the tab to the actuator end eye removed?

I'm working on a very similar issue with my 2003 22v and an electric lenco taps set up. Those pins are a hard plastic and should come out easy. I used a brass punch and just tapped them out. You may luck out and remove the pins without taking the bracket off the transome as the wire goes threw the bracket. I took the bracket off and then tapped them out. Good luck.

My 2004 broke the plastic pin years ago and just installed a stainless bolt.
Also I took mine apart years ago because it wouldnt work, it just has a small motor and gears, I cleaned them polished the armature and its been working ever since.
You can call lenco and they will ship you a new one, I also got a scemetic from them.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a hard time believing that a plastic pin would hold such a load. I may try a stainless bolt.

          forte,
How did you get yours apart. I have taken the 2 nuts off, but I cant seem to crack open the housing. I was going to do the same thing you did in regards to taking a look at the guts.
Any help would be deeply appreciated!
