I need some advise from you guys. I have a 2007 24ve. On my last outing of the year I hit something and bent the prop. I am sure that just the prop was bent and not the shaft. I was goung slow and out of gear.

My question is... Do I take it some where to have it fixed or just buy a new one? Also if I was to buy a new one should I change to something else in size? Any recommendations?

I surf with the boat and the RPM range at that speed seems to load a little but we board at 22mph. When we surf I do add about 1000lbs of ballast.

What prop is on it now? One recommendation based on what stated would be to get a new prop, maybe a 1235, to use as your main prop and then see if you can get your damaged prop fixed to use as a spare.

Yes you could keep your old prop as a spare and get a new one better suited for you needs. Give wake makers a call, they can give you excellent info on what prop would be best for you.

I would also inspect the strut very close.

The OEM prop should(*) have been the ACME 537. So if your boat still has an ACME prop on it, and you want to get the current prop repaired, then call ACME and get a recommendation on an authorized ACME repair shop that is either local or one that you can ship your prop to for a repair.

The 537 is a great all around prop. So unless you are looking to add more weight (in people or ballast) or are experiencing some conditions that indicate the current prop has reached its performance limits, then upgrading is not necessary, unless the current prop is too far damaged. Sluggish hole-shot and or cavitation/prop-slip are some symptoms to indicate the current prop is being asked to do more then it wants to.

The ACME 1235 is a very popular upgrade for your Tige 24Ve, but the boats v-drive gear ratio needs to be confirmed before the correct prop can be chosen. More then likely its the blue Walter drive and is the 1.5:1, but its a slight chance that its the black Walter 1:1. If so, then a 3-blade will be the most likely route to go.

In the end, It never hurts to talk to the experts at ACME about an upgrade prop choice.

(*) If the boat has the Blue Walter 1.5:1 V-Drive.

Thanks for the help. I thought about the idea of getting a new prop and seeing if the one can be fixed. That way I would have a second to use as a backup. How can I tell what drive I have? I am sure Acme will ask that. The reason I ask about a different size was reading some of the discussion here about changes. Mine has not any limit and off the line seems good. However it seems that when surfing the engine is at an RPM range that is just under a "happy" point and could come up a little and maybe it would be more efficient. Is this why others change props? How much will a new prop cost? Any ideas?

1) if your boat came with a 4-blade prop, then its a good bet that the drive ratio is 1.5:1. Also, look at the color of the V-drive unit. If its blue in color, its the 1.5:1 and you need to stick with a 4-blade. If its black in color, its the 1:1 ratio and needs a 3-blade. If you get close and can find and read the tag, it will indicate the v-drives ratio.
