'06 VE guages - what am I missing

I have owned a few tournament boats and one tige previously, but this has me stumpped...

I am looking at an '06 22ve and the owner said it had 400ish hours. Then he said he took it for an mechanical at it actually has 150 hrs.

He said it was something about the guage being in "NH" not hours - so it measured something like nautical miles, not hours.

Do any of you have any experience with this - all the guages I've had had hours, and the usuals - oil press, water temp, etc. Nothing to do with nautical miles?

    Cheers!

The Faria gauges used in 06 had a trip log that calculated miles traveled as well as hours. But, do not go by the hrs displayed on the gauge. The Faria gauges have been known to reset during a low voltage condition such as trying to start the boat with a dead battery. You need to have the engine's control module scanned to obtain the engine hours.

Greetings from St Albert. This is crazy...
I am in the process of buying a 2006 VE myself.
The mechanic doing the inspection confirmed 146 hours but the seller used the Nautical Miles of over 500 to base the ad and pricing on. Very confusing situation.

Since learning this on Friday I have been searching high and low to confirm that the gauges had Nautical Miles and Hours, but I can't find anything about it....until the reply below.

As recommended in the other reply, I am going to have the boat's control module scanned to confirm.

I have a posting about the boat in the VE forum..."Rider's Edition". I hope we are not dealing on the same boat

Let me know what you find out...I will do the same.

        Scan tool confirms

My mechanic used his scan tool to confirm the hours on the engine as 150. The gauge reads 148.1. Nautical Miles shows 560.

Interesting turn of events...but a relief the hours are accurate.
