    Trans Cooler

I had been having issues with water getting into the engine compartment last summer and determined that the hose was leaking at the fresh water intake at the transmission cooler. When I tried to tighten the hose clamp down I discovered that I must have over tightened it because the cooler flange was crimped. I have tried to uncrimp it using a needle nose pliers but it still leaks a little. Anyone have any other suggestions other than total replacement?
    Thanks.

I would sand the neck clean, then fill in the low spots with a filler like 2-part epoxy. If there are any high spots, they would need to be hammered down using a dowel. Kinda like hammering out a dent in a car body panel. It would require removing the cooler. I would also double clamp it once done. This may be a lot of work as compared to just replacing it.

10-4, Thanks. I was trying not to have to remove. I think I'll try two hose clamps first. I don't suppose teflon tape would help.

If you have to go to the trouble of removing and reinstalling it, I'd just replace it. Otherwise you're just waiting for the bandaid "fix" to fail, and then you get to do it all over again. Peace of mind while on the water is worth a lot.
