    Replacement stereo

Hi Friends, we have a 2006 22i with a factory fitted Clarion Stereo and remote controls on the dash and rear deck.

The stereo CD hasn't been working particularly well for sometime so we are thinking about replacing it. Does anyone know whether any type of new stereo will be compatabile with the remote controls?

    Thanks

The Clarion CMD5 will be a direct swap out and will interface with your current remotes. Only down side is that the CMD5 is not a current production model. There is a slight chance that the CMD6 will work, but I havent seen it for my self.

Other then that, if you change brands or go with a newer model, you will need to change the remotes as well. Both Alpine and Sony offer LCD remotes that are round and should cover the current Clarion remote footprint.

I would just upgrade to the CMD 6 and get the new remote. Or the CMD 7 which is a little cheaper. They are both current modal and are compatible with more inputs such as the iPhone. U might even be able to pick up a 7 and remote for not much more of a used 5.
