    FAE on PCM with CAT

    All

Has anyone put an FAE on a PCM with CAT and single exhaust. I just picked up a new boat (not Tige)and wanted to add an FAE to reduce the engine noise. I had an FAE on the last boat and it was great.

If you have, how do you like it? Has it caused and mechanical issues with the engine. We only surf, so has it caused any issue with the surf wave?

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks

I don't have FAE, but when I was considering the purchase of my CAT-equipped PCM engine I called PCM and asked them about FAE. They said FAE worked fine with CAT and would not void my PCM warranty if I installed it.

    Hope this helps!

We put an FAE on our 409 PCM. I did not notice a huge reduction in engine noise (it was really quiet already). It also put out a bit of a rooster tail, which increased at higher speeds. It did eliminate the occasional exhaust smell a surfer would get.

At first, I sort of regretted putting it on -- then my misunderstanding of the effects of a cat were corrected in this thread. Given that a cat merely "reduces" rather than eliminates CO, I am happier with the upgrade and would do it again.
