    Faria Commander Hourmeter

The Faria Commander Hourmeter reset the engine hour meter to zero the other day. I'm not able to find any information in the Faria's owners manual on how to adjust the hours to match the engine time. I had the Tige dealer hook up the engine scanner to get the correct engine hours so I sure would like to adjust the gauge. Any help sure would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with mine. Does anyone know if Faria has fixed the problem, in other words would replacing the meter fix the problem?

The only way that I know of to set the hours back is to hook the meter to a battery and let it run until the hours are back up to where the engine ECU indicates. Depending on the hours this could take days.

      Battery.....not enough voltage...

For the Faria hourmeter to register....the voltage has to exceed a set voltage level.

I think the meter only compiles run-time when the voltage of the system is above 12.8 volts (could be 13.0v).

Basically, the voltage of a 12v DC system is about 13.5-14v with the alternator charging.......when the engine runs....so the hourmeter only adds time with voltage is significantly higher than normal battery voltage.

Good point. I guess we're just SOL. I'd be interested in knowing if other boats with the same meters (E.g. Nautiques) are having the same problem.

My 04 Faria reset to zero at 12 hours. Hasn't done it again but I now have a 12 hour variance between the ECM and the gauge.

Before I bought my Tige I was looking at a 2000 Nautigue showing 90 hours. When I checked with the local dealer they said it had 300+ and the gauges were all changed due to a recall.

faria hour meter reset to zero again

Mine just reset back to zero again at 163 hours. First time at 12 hours was not a big deal. Guess it's time to get a new gauge. Maybe someone at the factory can set it to match my engine hours before they send me the warranty replacement????

You could hook the gauge to a battery before you install the gauge to run the hours up.

Lee....Is there enough voltage from the battery to record hours?

mine is different then my perfect pass one. If it has to be above a certain volts that would explain the diff, as my alt can't handle the load with my amps, glad I got the bigger alt I can't wait to intall it next week.

I like my old mech gauge. Don't have to worry. Unless it just quits working all together.

                        Lee,

When I power on the gauge with the ignition it does not add time. Isn't this the same as connecting to the battery?

Some where they were saying there has to be a alt meter reading about 12 volts coming in to show time.

Not sure but we have hooked them to a battery to run the hours up.

how about a meter adding 10 hours to every one run. This is happening on mine. Any idea what could cause this?
