    Trailer Alinement

Today I spent $267.50 on a wheel alinement of my dual axle trailer. I had noticed the LR tire was weaing funny so I took it in and both exles were out of line again. Anyone else had this problem? I know no one can answer this but I am wondering how I'm knocking the tires out of line.

Never knew you could change the alignment on a boat trailer. I've had several dual axle boat trailers and the sidewalls weather crack before the tread is gone. What accelerates tire wear on dual axle trailers is because the axles are so close together when you make sharp turns two or more of the tires skid while turning removing rubber from the tire.

Yes, that does accelerate the wear but if you look at the tires on a shap turn, you see lots of sidewall flex which causes the axles to flex a little too. I have to tow 60 miles one way for each trip and one particular railway crossing is a little rough which contributes to the problem. But I sure can tell how much better the boat tows with the axles in line.
