    engine noise

Last weekend I noticed a strange sound from the engine that I haven't heard before on my boat. Was a very faint jingling. The sound was constant, never up or down with rpm's. I didn't really notice it when in idle however. I don't know where it was coming from.

I've heard something like that when I'm sitting on the rearmost deck, feet on the swim platform, coaching folks on the surfboard. It does sound like jingling. I can't hear it anywhere but back there, and only when the boat is moving. I presume it's a loose metal fitting somewhere but haven't looked into it yet.

      Anyone else?

My removable swim platform will vibrate in it's removable brackets from time to time. I have put wrapped the male portion of the bracket with electrical tape in the past to take up some of the clearance.

This is a much higher frequency content "jingling" than I'd expect from the heavy metal brackets on my swim platform. However, it did occur to me that it might be the clips that retain the swim platform. They are small, metal, and can rattle a bit. I'm not sure I'd expect such a "jingley" sound from them when they are submersed in the water, though.
