Alarm Sounds when throttle down

I checked the oil level and all is fine there. Once or twice out when I am driving at higher speeds and then throttle down to slow down significantly my alarm goes off and I see my oil pressure gauge go down to below 5 which is what triggers the alarm. I turn off the engine and then restart it and everything is fine or if I just idle for 30 seconds with the engine running the pressure goes up again and the alarm stops. Any ideas of what is going on? Thank you.

Is oil level correct, oil weight, if those items are good the put on a oil preasure guage and see if the preasure is really low or bogus readying.

Oil is sloshing to the front of the pan and away from the pickup while decelerating. If oil is low, the pick up tube can not pump it. If it is over full, it can froth and try to pump bubbles . Too light weight and centrifugal force pulls it away from the pick up tube. You might try adding some amsoil oil stabilizer to make it thicker and more sticky.

I like yur thinking, but the engine in a V-drive is oriented 180* from what they are in a DD. The sump (deep part of the pan) where the pickup is, is actually forward of the stern.

Either way, I would do an oil change just to confirm the amount of oil in the pan is correct. Also, an over full crankcase can actually cause foaming. The churned up oil will create a false low pressure because the senders cant rear air bubbles.

Yep , you right. I have a DD and was thinking of mine. I agree an oil change is in order.
