    Oil Change - 96 20slm 5.7 Merc

Is this a hard this to do? I change all my oil in all my other vehicles. Is this harder to do on a boat? Should I attempt this myself?

This is my first boat and I have owned it for only a few months. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am new to the boat game.

    Thanks Guys.

I change my own oil also and it is probably easier in the boat. My boat has an oil drain hose that extends down through the bottom drain in the hull. Just run the hose through the drain and put a catch pan under the trailer to catch the waste oil. Change the filter and refill the crankcase. The oil drain hose has a plug in the end of it that has to be removed to drain the oil.

It just drains very slow. Start the oil draining first. Let the oil drain while you do the other tune up items. It took an hour or two to drain completely.

Best way to change the oil is after you have had it out running. When you get back the oil will drain ALOT faster than doing it cold. Even running it in the driveway isnt as good as a run on the lake. Drop the tube throught the drain hole and let it fall into a oil pan. Its super easy!!!!
