Hi could any one help, I'm rebuilding a 20v and I have got six pots that are fixed through the hull of the boat. Does any one have the same items if so do you know what they are?
Cheers Carl
Thats what i thought but the conection is very small, like an air or hydrolic conection also on under side there is like a black rubber ram inside.

Do they go thru the hull? Could be outlet check valves... The head looks spring loaded almost and the wing nut appears to be an adjustment. What year is the boat?
I'm revising my guess. Spring loaded adjustable check valves from the outlet ballast pump to dump the tanks. They would keep the lake water from "passive filling" the tanks when driven down the lake.
I undid the wing nut and the bit that looks like a spring seem like large washers. Hole in to it is so small the hole u see is the only one. My first thought is some kind of finger that is hydraulically pushed into the water to change the flow of water under the boat.
Look like solenoid valves to me. See if the ports on the sides were where the wiring went in with a gland nut and the top wing nuts are for expandable plugs that are just pluging up where the fill hose connects. Looks like you have a lot of clean up to do. Lets see pics of the whole project.
Cheers Laserfish. I will get some pics posted soon. It's a bit of a mess at the mo. She had a dash fire with lots of damage and she's been striped bare before I got it. Nice little job. Putting some hours in.

With that small of fittings, could they be solenoids to drain water from the engine? Just a thought. I've never heard of it, but it sounds like a good idea if the boat is run in salt water.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.
Hi all. You where all right they are pickups for the balast. The blue wing nuts are just bungs and the pot is just a 1/4 turn tap.
Cheers for your help. Sorry to ask a stupid question but feel I will be asking more stupid questions very soon.
Carl
Definately not a dumb question. None of us had ever seen anything like it, but we took a stab at it and it helped. Keep asking the questions and keep us posted on the progress "across the pond". Look on the bright side. When you install your killer ballast system, the thru hull holes are already there!
