    overheating

started out having prob next time i went to lake, after beaching boat!!!
i have an 05 tige 6.0 closed cooling system with a jabsco impeller housing.went to lake the next time out and overheated to 250, i turned off motor 2 min started back up cooled to 175 real quick, so i bought a new impeller thinking the sand messed it up on the last trip out (Lake Mead), boats of nevada said to grease the new one. not telling me with what kind of grease, i used wheel bearing grease and i kind of melted it a little or wore it pretty bad, so i got a new impeller and after reading teses posts i used the grease the new impeller came with, now here i am.
if i force water into v drive just after clam shell with a hose shoved into line boat will not overheat while running at all.
if i put boat in water, the boat will not suck water in from lake unless i pull hose off of heat exchanger and suck water in manually while running. and put hose on real quick without getting burnt to badly, it will then prime and work all day no problems. start stop as many time needed!!! once out of water problem happens all over again...
Now i have taken it to boats of nevada, they dont know!!!
4 new impellers later problem still persists.
No blue color in housing, no air leaks in hoses,no broken pieces of impeller anywhere.
I NEED HELP!!!! Could it be a bad housing

If you dont have a sea strainer have you checked the trans cooler for debree?

The housing, the cover plate/gasket to the housing or the raw water suction line. It's unable to prime on its own which would indicate something is stuck inside the impeller housing. If you remove the cover plate and examine the cam inside the raw water pump (it's between the inlet and outlet up top and removed with the flat head screw above it) there may be some debris or sand stuck there. Check it out and let us know.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

          well i fixed the problem!!!!
after boats of nevada couldnt fix it i took off the impeller housing
and took it to aqua marine to look at it, the owner sanded it smooth and
said impeller housing was fine, but the impeller was wrong. it was 3/16 to short! boats of nevada gave me a jabsco impeller, was wrong! then gave me a johnson impeller, was wrong! they said thats what they use in all tige boats....
i then went to west marine bought another impeller from them, it was wrong!! took it back got another johnson, was wrong..
so after aqua marine owner told me it was wrong i went back to west marine
to look at impellers and found that mine was the jabsco 50410 profile HH
          not the KK profile
the difference is that the HH has 10 blades and is 3/16 taller 32.00 and kk has 12 blades and 3/16 shorter 52.00
          hope this helps everyone....

YOU WOULD THINK BOATS OF NEVADA WOULD HAVE CHECKED THAT OUT FIRST WHEN I SPENT 300.00 TO HAVE THE TRY TO TRACK DOWN THE PROBLEM.

I would be very interested to hear if Boats of Nevada makes it right for their error. We pay professionals for their expertise and although people make mistakes, customers should not have to pay for it.

Just had a similar issue. There are many impellers and many pumps. I took my pump off. Took the model number and got the impeller for that pump. From the pump company. Not for the boat. Not for the engine. Not from some dealer.
