Packing size

I'm trying to figure out what packing size my boat uses and since there aren't any forums like this for my boat, hopefully you guys can help. I have a 1-1/8" drive shaft and the white plastic/nylon stuffing box. Do I need 1/4" or 3/16"? Reason I ask, is that I purchased the 3/16 standard flax installed 3 rings yet it still leaked pretty good. So I don't know if I didn't stagger the seams or was given the wrong size.

I measured the old packing last night, 1/4" seems to be the size. FYI, if anyone is ordering GFO packing for 1-1/8" shaft with plastic suffing box, go with 1/4". The guys over at skidim told me they've seen that before.
