    Warning message

I was cruising about 25mph in my 2009 22ve with the ex343 engine....the lcd screen all the sudden popped up the message:

    WARNING
    SERVICE ENGINE

This was in capital bold red letters. after i slowed down and changed the screen display after a few minutes the message went away. my oil pressure was fine, engine temp was fine, etc etc...

anyone ever seen this before, and what could be wrong?

I have. Mine started doing it last summer. (09 RZ2...same engine). I can clear it out and go on and it will pop up again any number of times throughout the day. I was hoping it wouldn't show up again this year (post servicing and winterization), but it did. I had it out this past weekend for a few hours and it happened.

I think it's the gas at my marina. We complain to them about the quality of gas, but to no avail (it's 87 octane with no marine additives). Duncan (screen name on this site) has the same boat I do and didn't have the problem until he came to visit my marina. I think his has cleared up since. My dealer didn't have an explanation and the error codes didn't show up in the computer. Weird. I do believe it's the gas...but I may be wrong. Let me know if you find anything else out.

I continued to have the problem intermittenly after I brought it home from Guapo's lake. Had the dealer run through all sorts of checks with PCM. There was nothing ever conclusive. Bujt it tapered off and a month later I no longer had the warnings.

Perhaps try marine Stabil to see if that counters any gas issue.

Thanks for the help guys...maybe it was bad gas. Can someone recommend a fuel additive to try out?

Figured it out! The guy who summerized my engine forgot to plug in one of the knock sensors. Glad i got it fixed, but probably wont be too happy with this guy anymore. Apparently the pcm ex343 has a knock sensor on each side, and he only thought there was 1!!!!

So apparently that knock sensor must be commonly forgotten because Tige didn't even put it on when we picked ours up from the dealer.

Your boat was more then likely shipped from Tige to the dealer with them left out on purpose. Did your dealer not sea trial the boat upon receiving it? Last I knew, there was a warranty form that the dealer has to fill out and send in to Tige for each boat and it includes a sea trial along with checking everything bow to stern.
