I have a 01 21 V that has had a few impeller problems in the last couple of years. Symptoms are shreading the impeller after 3 or 4 trips to the lake I have worked with the dealer and after flushing the input lines of any junk and replacing the impeller 5 times we finaly decided to change out the entire impeller housing this year. For the last 10 weekens or so all has been fine no problems and then on this last Saturday we ran the boat out of gas while cranking the boat the belt starts to squel took off the belt and found that the impeller pump won't turn. After removing the pump we found that the rubber impeller had changed it's direction all the fins were floped over and stuck in the wrong direction seizing the pump ( by the way the impeller was in great shape) I have removed the impeller changed it's direction put all back together with a new belt and ran it for a half hour and all again is fine. Wassup any one out there ever ran into this.

I have never heard of this but when your engine died it may have counter-rotated a little bit and flipped the fins the wrong direction. I have been told that it does not matter which direction the fins are installed because the there is enough play in the impeller housing for them to flip back the right direction. It could have been that your belt was not tight enough to flip them back. I am not a mechanic but thats my two cents worth.
