    NEW PROBLEM! 2005 24v

    THANKS FOR THE INPUT ON MY LAST PROBLEM.I MADE THE SWAP AND SO FAR SO GOOD....HERE I GO FOR THE NEXT RUN...


    1) THE FUEL GAUGE IS REALLY ALL OVER THE PLACE. I HAVE TO THUMP IT TO EVEN GET IT TO GIVE ME A FALSE READING. THIS IS THE 5TH BOAT I HAVE OWNED AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY LAST TIGE THE FUEL GAUGES HAVE ALL BEEN VERY ACCURATE. I ALSO OWN A SEA DOO AND IT IS ALSO DEAD ON. I GUESS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE AND SECONDLY WHY A SITUATION LIKE THIS THAT PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFTEY PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.

    2) MY NEXT ISSUE IS THAT YESTERDAY WHEN I GOT IN THE BOAT THE ENGINE HOURS READ 14, WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE DOCK IT READ .2! IT WAS NOT A TEMPORARY ANOMALY. I GUESS I COULD JUST ADD 14 TO THE NUMBER BUT I AM TOO STUBBORN ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS. ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT CHANGES AGAIN?

    WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM TIGE ON THESE TWO ISSUES.

    My hour meter reset itself after 150 hours. I had my boat in for service a couple of weeks ago and the mechanic, who is an certified Mercrusier service technician told me that the hours displayed in the Faria guage was read directly from the Engine ECU. This information is in direct conflict to what I've read here on this site. If what he said is true then there is no way to deterime actual hours on an engine when the hour meter resets.

    There is one way to test this, if we swap out two guages between two boats with different hours and the hours stay the same then the "certified" technician I took my boat to is full of it. If the hours do not follow the meter then this guy is right.

    Unfortunately I don't have two Tige's to swap, Tige's are a rarely seen around here.

      Hours meter

      I have had the same problem with the hours meter on my 2005 21I. It reset to zero after about 48 hours. Have not been able to get an answer as to why that happened or how to correct it. My dealer did inform me that the hours are also recorded on perfect pass, so that is what I read now to determine engine hours.

        Sorry to say that your tech is wrong. I had the tach replaced in my 04 last year which also contains the hour gauge. I had about 135 hours on it but the new gauge read zero and now is about 30. When hooked up to a laptop the engine ECM correctly reads 165 hours. So the Engine ECM is the accurate one.

          CALL ME NAIVE BUT I BELIEVE THAT MY HOUR METER SHOULD WORK AND MY FUEL GAUGE SHOULD AS WELL! I CAN SEE GETTING INTO WARRANTY ISSUES BECAUSE I WENT BEYOND THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS......SORRY TO SOUND LIKE I AM BITCHING BUT I AM SUFFERING THROUGH SOME BUYER'S REMORSE. I EXPECT MY CLIENTS TO BE HAPPY WITH MY PRODUCT AND I EXPECT EVEN MORE WHEN SPENDING MY OWN MONEY. IF MY DEALER DIDN'T TALK ME HOME DAILY I WOULD SELL MY NEW BOAT!

            Maybe you shouldn't of let the dealer talk you in upgrading from your 22V to the 24V, I heard that 22V was a pretty good little boat! Just keep on top of the dealer and make sure he fixes your problem in a timely matter.

              HE DIDN'T TALK ME INTO THE NEW ONE, ALTHOUGH HE SMILES A LOT WHEN HE SEES ME COMING! IT WAS THE HILLBILLY IN ME THAT HAD TO HAVE THE 380HP ENGINE! I AM HAVING BLACK NUMERALS PUT ON THE BOAT SO IT WILL LOOK LIKE THE GENERAL LEE!
