    HELP! Boat will not Start

So I charged both the batteries and when I turn the key to start nothing. Perfect pass comes on and beeps and the fuel pump is working. but when I go to start nothing. Starter doesn't click or anything.

I have checked that all the ground connections are tight and the breaker on the back of the engine is not poped.

    Now what can I check.

I do have a Perko switch. I get the same results at 1, 2 or all. and since I do not hear the starter do anything I am thinking it has to be an electrical issue. It was working fine the last time out in November.

    Thanks for your help.

Look under the dash for the main fuse panel and make sure they did not turn everything off if you got it winterized

Were the batteries pulled for winter and then reinstalled? If so, my first guess would be to look for a rouge cable that didnt get put back on.

does the volt gauge dip when you try to crank? Could be a frozen starter.

Thanks for the respnoses...I did the winterrize and did not turn off under the dash.

The voltage guage reads 12v and does not move When I attempt to start.

I did pull the batteries to charge. I have checked to make sure I did not miss any. I even took the perko out of the mix and wired straight to Bat one. Left the Stero and amps off the bat.

Same result. I am just out of ideas as to what to check next.

I have not tred checking the voltage at the starter.

          starter fuse

There is a 90 amp fuse where the main cable attaches to the starter. If it is blown, you get nothing. Have seen it more than once.90 amp fuse 002.jpg

Did you try and wiggle the shifter, could be neutral safety switch.

That has caught me before Dom. I breathed a sigh of relief when I figured it out when we were stranded out in the middle of the lake.

Frozen starter sounds possible, try tapping it with a screwdriver head on while someone cranks the engine.

Check the connections on the ignition switch under the dash, they sometimes get loose. You may need a new ignition switch.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Went out this morning and wiggled the shifter and it started right up. I can not believe that one caught me. For some reason I did not check that and just jumped right in to the electrical system. Thats usually the first thing I do. Felt like such a tool.

                      Thanks again and happy boating.

I has never happen on our Tigé, but happened last year on our houseboat.
I'm glad it was something so simple and thanks for the reminder.

                            Hey huntingwiley,

Do you live in Cornelius? We are planning on doing some trips out during the wk. We work in Mooresville and will put in around Stumpy creek probably. Hopefully on Tuesday nights, that would be best for me but not sure about the track guys yet. Travis5550 said you guys live in the area. Are you interested?

I live in mooresville and keep my boat at River City Marina. Not far from Stumpy Creek. I would definitely up for hitting the lake.
