Follow up to post on Fogging....

    Here's the previos post:

    http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13559

OK, I went down to my local boat dealer (friends from the gym), and here's what he had to say about fogging fuel injected engines. I have fogged the previous 4 years of ownership.

Basically, he say's don't! And here is what he suggested.

If using a 6 gallon gas can:

    5 gal of gas
2 qts of TCW outboard 2 stoke oil
    5 oz's of Stabil

Adjusted accordingly. Since I'm changing oil at the same time, run engine for 15 minutes at 1500 RPM running mixture through the system...without oil change, 5 minutes or so. I will reduce the quantity mentioned above to

    2/1/3

Hook up fuel line into the gas tank..I'll need to find which line this is on my 5.7 Vortech Marine Power.

OK...thoughts please...and I hope this helps with other questions on this topic.

See, every says dont, but no one can give a viable reason to not fog an EFI engine.

I have done mine every year. I use cimguard 10 for mine.

All I do is change oil, use MARINE stabil w/ full gas tank and fog. drain water. I change my fuel seperator after the 1st full tank each year.

It's a heavy spray lubricant that is sprayed down the throttle plates on the engine while it's running so it's coats the cylinders and pistons of the engine for storage.

So, I've only used my boat 4 times this year. With that in mind, I figured I didn't need to do all of the normal maint I do every fall, and would only have to drain all of the water out of the motor, and I would be good. Timmy has volunteered to help me, which is very much appreciated!!

Anyways, he asked me if I wanted to fog the motor. I was going to do whatever he does with his own boat.

I remember hearing don't do it, or maybe our local dealer says they don't do it.

We live in a dry climate, so I would think rusting wouldn't be an issue, but with that said I want to take the safe approach.

How many of you don't fog? Maybe that's what we all should be looking at?

Ditto. Same routine. I run antifreeze though in addition.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I do also. I didn't put everything down. I think I got that part from you anyways.

Should you fog an engine that has catalytic converters?!?
