    2007 24ve W/ marine power 5.7 cuts off

    ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!!
i was out this weekend on my 2007 24ve with a marine power 5.7 motor and had issues. When i was wakeboarding or just driving the engine and all power would just shut off. The 50 amp breaker that is located under the engine cover and bolted to the engine would just short out. I would have to wait about 10min and then i could reset it and it work for a little while then it would do the same thing by popping the 50 am fuse. I checked my gauges and everything was great temp at 150-160 the oil around 55-60. Not sure what would cause this but i would imagine it was electric????

ANY HELP ON WHERE TO START???

Any added accessories that are installed but wired in under the helm and not directly to the battery?

Fallow the wire harness and make sure it's not pinched or chaffed on the engine assembly.

X2. Your problem is post key switch which means it's on the distributed side of the breaker (downstream from the breaker) and something is either shorting out or drawing too much power. Check for wires that may have rubbed through against the block and/or terminal ends that may be touching the block. If you have a multi-meter, you can check this with the battery off but the keyswitch on by putting one testing terminal on a good ground and one on the back of the breaker lead wire.

Boatwakes!! when you say post key switch you mean that there is a short somewhere between ignition key and breaker? is this a direct power line that i can look through? if so is it more likely at ignition or at the actual engine block? also is there anyway to find out if it is a bad breaker? I am very bad with electrical stuff!!

the only added thing to the boat is an extra battery and a stereo that is wired to the battery. all done by factory!
